Fire breaks out at Adani Shantigram flat, no injuries reported

A fire broke out in a flat on the seventh floor of the Medows building in the Adani Shantigram township on the outskirts of Ahmedabad on Wednesday morning. No injuries were reported in the incident, and the blaze was brought under control within half-an-hour by the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES).
The fire call was received at 9.13 am, following which a team of 12 fire fighters along with two fire tenders were dispatched to the spot. The affected flat E4-704 is owned by Rasilaben Mori and is currently rented out to Urvashi Bansal and Dhruti Ambekar.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit. No insurance cover had been taken for the flat, officials confirmed.
Firefighters acted swiftly and managed to contain the blaze before it could spread to adjoining flats. “The situation was brought under control within 30 minutes. Fortunately, no one was injured,” a fire official at the scene said.
Residents of the building were temporarily evacuated as a precautionary measure. The incident has once again raised concerns about electrical safety and the need for timely maintenance in high-rise residential complexes.
Further investigation into the exact cause of the short circuit is underway.
