The two-storied bungalow of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) corporator Jitubhai Kachhadiya in Mota Varachha of Surat caught fire on Mar 8. The 17-year-old son of the corporator, Prince, got trapped in his room and was severely burnt.

He was rushed to the hospital but lost his life following a short treatment. Prince was preparing for the upcoming class 12 board exams.


The incident

At around 2 a.m. on Mar 8, a sudden fire broke out on the first floor of the house. The family members sleeping on the second floor were trapped as the fire spread to the second floor.

Six out of seven family members jumped on the roof of the adjacent house, saving their lives. 

Prince, who was in the bedroom, was trapped in the room due to the smoke and was seriously injured.

The fire teams rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. Meanwhile, Prince was found in critical condition on the second floor. He was immediately rushed to SMIMER Hospital, where he was declared dead by the doctor on duty.

Prince was the younger son of Kachhadiya, whose other son is a businessman.
