A serious altercation broke out at the BJP-ruled Dabhoi Taluka Panchayat in Gujarat, where Panchayat president Rajendra Tadvi and contractor Anjesh Patel clashed over a contract-related dispute. The incident, which took place within the panchayat premises, saw Tadvi and his associates allegedly assaulting Patel in full public view.
Sources claim the attack had been planned for several days amid ongoing disputes over government contracts within the panchayat. Patel, who has worked on drainage, road, and shed construction projects for over 20 years, alleged that the assault was linked to a ₹3 lakh shed project in Chanod.
The contractor managed to escape and file a police complaint, naming the Dabhoi Taluka Panchayat president.
In his complaint, Patel also accused the vice-president of the district panchayat being involved in the assault.
The contractor claimed that two days prior, the vice-president of the Vadodara District Panchayat had called his brother, and threatened that “Your brother already has a broken arm; I will break his leg as well.”
Patel alleged that Tadvi called in outsiders to attack the contractor.
Patel also claimed that Tadvi had warned village panchayats to not award any contract to him or their bills will not get cleared.
Despite the police complaint, no action has yet been taken against the BJP leader.
