Police in Vadodara have solved the case of a young man’s suspicious death at the Pratapnagar railway colony, revealing it to be a case of murder allegedly committed by his fiancée.

The deceased, identified as Sachin Rathwa, was found dead three days ago and was initially believed to have died under unclear circumstances. However, a detailed police probe and the post-mortem report confirmed that the death was not natural and was caused by strangulation.

Investigators said Sachin, a native of Chhotaudepur district, had been in a relationship with Rekha Rathwa for around three years. The couple got engaged in May 2025 and had been living together in Vadodara for the past six months. Rekha was working with the railways and was posted at the Pratapnagar railway colony.

According to police, the couple had an argument over marriage-related issues on the day of the incident. Later, when Sachin was asleep, Rekha allegedly strangled him with her dupatta. After the incident, she reportedly informed Sachin’s father that he was unresponsive, following which he was taken to a railway hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Marks on the neck and the post-mortem findings raised suspicion, prompting further questioning. Acting on the directions of senior officers, police conducted a detailed interrogation, during which Rekha allegedly confessed to the crime.

Based on a complaint filed by Sachin’s father, the Makarpura Police Station registered a case and arrested the accused. Further investigation is underway.
