Traffic came to a standstill near Arvind Mill in Naroda, Ahmedabad on Wednesday afternoon after local residents blocked the road to protest against repeated sewage overflows and lack of basic civic amenities in the area.

According to civic officials, residents gathered near Anil Starch Mill in the East Zone, blocking both sides of the road. They alleged that despite repeated complaints, the problem of overflowing gutters had not been resolved, forcing them to take to the streets.

Deputy Municipal Commissioner Vishal Khanama who visited the site said, “I have personally inspected the spot and directed officials to complete the work on priority."

The protest was lifted after civic authorities assured residents that the repair work would be expedited.
