FDCA seizes suspected adulterated spices worth ₹1.11 crore in Rajkot raid

The Food and Drug Control Administration (FDCA) has seized more than 35,500 kg of suspected food products worth over ₹1.11 crore during a raid on a spice manufacturing unit in Gujarat's Rajkot district, officials said on Thursday.
A raid was carried out at M/s Satyam Masala, located in Bhimwadi, Gondal, as part of the state-wide food safety enforcement drive.
According to officials, an inspection was conducted at the unit on June 17, during which four samples of suspected food products were collected for laboratory analysis.
The seized stock included coriander powder and corn powder sold in loose form. Authorities confiscated approximately 6,766 kg of these products, valued at around ₹8.22 lakh.
In addition, samples of loose chilli powder and turmeric powder were collected. Officials seized about 28,671 kg of these products, with an estimated value of ₹1.03 crore.
In total, 35,527 kg of suspected food products worth ₹1,11,04,205 were seized during the operation.
Officials said all samples have been sent to a laboratory for quality testing. Further legal action under the Food Safety and Standards Act will be initiated based on the laboratory findings.
