Father-son duo deceives rickshaw driver of ₹6 lakh over Canada work visa process

Updated: Dec 23rd, 2023

A dream of going to Canada became a nightmare for a common rickshaw driver in Vadodara’s Nizampura as a father-son duo deceived him of ₹6 lakh.

Asifkhan Pathan, a resident of Bhailalbhai Park Society in Vadodara’s Gorwa, contacted ‘Sai Consultancy’ near Nizampura Char Rasta in Mar 2023.

Since Pathan desired to apply for a visitor visa and work permit in Canada, he went to the consultancy, owned by Rajendra Shah and his son Rinkesh Shah.

The duo mentioned the total cost of the process would be ₹12 lakh; however, they had a condition. ₹6 lakh was asked for in advance, and the remaining money was to be paid from the salary from the job that he gets in Canada.

As Pathan agreed to the terms, the deal was documented on stamp paper. The consultancy office, however, was closed and abandoned, resulting in Pathan’s payment stuck with no one to oblige.

The police have initiated their efforts to arrest the consultancy owners, Rajendra and Rinkesh Shah.
