Father arrested for alleged assault of 14-year-old daughter in Navsari

A man was arrested in Ahmedabad for allegedly raping his 14-year-old daughter on three consecutive days in Navsari's Gandevi in Gujarat, police said.

According to the complaint, the accused had previously lived in South Africa, where he worked as a tailor, and returned to his native village in 2024.

The complaint alleges that the man had been sexually harassing the minor and allegedly raped her on May 9, 10 and 11 when her mother had gone out to work. He also allegedly threatened to kill the girl if she disclosed the incidents to anyone.

Police said the victim remained silent due to fear and threats from her father. However, she later narrated the alleged incidents to a friend.

The friend informed her mother and advised her to speak to her daughter. Around 15 days after the alleged incidents, the victim disclosed the matter to her mother while they were visiting a relative's house, police said.

Following the disclosure, the mother lodged a complaint at Gandevi Police Station.

Based on the complaint, police registered a case against the accused under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The accused allegedly fled after the case was registered, but Gandevi police caught him with the help of technical surveillance. He was later sent for medical examination.
