Fans across India gather at Narendra Modi Stadium as Coldplay fever hits Ahmedabad

The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the largest stadium in the world, turned into a sea of excitement as fans from across the country gathered for the highly anticipated Coldplay concert on January 25-26.

With the band known for their electrifying performances and global appeal, the concert drew lakhs of dedicated fans who traveled from far and wide to witness the iconic event.

Kashvi, a local from Ahmedabad, couldn’t contain her excitement as she spoke about her love for the band before heading into the concert on Day 1. “I love their song Sparks,” she said, her face lighting up with enthusiasm. “I’m so excited to be here today!”

Sadhya, a Coldplay superfan from Varanasi, shared her dedication to the band and the lengths she went to attend the concert. “I paid surge pricing for my flight just to be here,” she said, adding that she had bought her tickets from a secondary seller. “It was totally worth it though! My friend isn’t as much of a fan, but I convinced her to come with me.”

Dr Shweta Patel, a gynaecologist from Surat, had come to the concert with her husband and daughter. Though she wasn’t initially a Coldplay fan, she said that her husband’s love for the band had rubbed off on her.

“I wasn’t a fan until about two years ago, but now I absolutely enjoy their music. My daughter is a huge fan, and we’re all here as a family to enjoy the show,” she said, beaming with excitement.

Her daughter, Prarthana, added a fun twist to the evening by preparing for the concert in true Coldplay fashion. “I thought I’d try to get noticed, so I put rhinestone stickers on my face,” she said, laughing. “Coldplay loves people who stand out with unique attire, so I’m hoping I’ll make it onto the camera!”

Dr Nihal Patel, Shweta’s husband, also shared his enthusiasm. “I’m very excited for the show. Hymn for the Weekend is my favorite Coldplay song,” he also added that . "We’ll head back to Surat right after the show, but it’s all going to be worth it.”

The concert also saw fans traveling from even further distances, with Mishika from Bangalore saying, “I’m a huge fan, and I traveled all the way here for this concert. It’s been a dream come true.”

Yuvika, also from Bangalore, echoed similar sentiments. “We came by train because the flights were ridiculously expensive due to surge pricing,” she said. “But the struggle is going to be worth it. The people here are so excited, and the energy is contagious. I’m looking forward to the vibe, the fireworks, and the crowd. It’s going to be a night to remember.”

As the night unfolded, the energy at the stadium was electric, with fans from all over the country coming together to celebrate their shared love for Coldplay’s music. The concert was more than just a performance — it was a celebration unforgettable connection that music creates.
