Family Feud Over Festive Visit Ends in Violent Assault at Jamnagar's Jodiya; Two Booked

A 40-year-old man was left critically injured after his brother-in-law and another relative allegedly attacked him with heavy tools near Bhadra Patiya in Jamnagar district's Jodiya taluka on September 2, following a dispute over extending a festival visit.

The victim, Rajeshbhai Khanabhai Parmar, a resident of Shankar Tekri area in Bhadra village, is currently undergoing treatment at Jamnagar’s GG Hospital. Police have registered a case against his brother-in-law, Kalubhai Mavjibhai Ranwa, and Kalubhai’s brother, Jagdishbhai Mavjibhai.

Festive Dispute Turns Violent

According to the police complaint, Kalubhai had dropped his wife, Kantaben, and their children at her brother Rajeshbhai's house in Bhadra in an Eco car to celebrate the Satam-Atham (seventh and eighth) festivals. Later that evening, after returning home from playing games with his nephew, Rajeshbhai was informed by Kantaben that Kalubhai had called and was coming to pick them up.

At around 9.30 pm, Kantaben and her children went to Bhadra Patiya Circle to meet Kalubhai, who arrived in his car and insisted they return home immediately. Rajeshbhai, who had also reached the spot, intervened and persuaded his sister to stay for another two to three days to mark the festivities.

Brutal Assault with Heavy Tools

The suggestion enraged Kalubhai, who verbally abused Rajeshbhai before fetching a large iron hammer from his vehicle. He allegedly attacked Rajeshbhai with the intention to kill. While attempting to shield himself, Rajeshbhai sustained severe injuries to his fingers, left hand, and left side, causing heavy bleeding.

Moments later, Kalubhai’s brother, Jagdishbhai, arrived at the scene armed with a wooden hammer and struck Rajeshbhai on the head.

Shifted to Jamnagar for Advanced Care

Family members called the 108 emergency service and rushed the injured Rajeshbhai to the Jodiya Government Hospital. Given the severity of his injuries particularly to his left side, head, fingers, palm, and chest, doctors administered primary care before transferring him to GG Hospital in Jamnagar for further treatment.

The local police have registered a formal complaint against Kalubhai Ranwa and Jagdishbhai Ranwa for the fatal assault and have launched a search to trace the fleeing suspects.
