Fake university in Patan adds to Gujarat’s ‘fake’ saga
After fake offices and officials, a university in Patan, approved by UGC (Universities Grant Commission) and the state government, was revealed to be non-existent.
The MK University, which was said to have a building, actually operates out of a farm warehouse. What’s worse, the Gujarat Legislative Assembly issued a notification stating that MK University exists only on paper.
According to official documents, the university is located in Hanumanpura, Patan, but a field inspection revealed that the only thing there is a signboard for MK University on a piece of agricultural land. The building shown as the university’s premises is nothing but a warehouse for farming produce.
Local legislator Kirit Patel raised this issue with Education Minister Rushikesh Patel, claiming that the MK University has been sold off. It was sold to Jitendra Yadav, the owner of Rajasthan’s Sunrise University, who is currently in jail in Rajasthan for his involvement in a fake degree scam.
This private university which exists only on paper, and the education sector has been severely tainted by this scandal. There have been calls for a CID Crime investigation into the matter to ensure accountability.
