With the Lok Sabha 2024 elections drawing closer, political defections continue to gather steam.
In the latest induction of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), held at Gandhinagar today, state BJP president CR Patil welcomed former BJP spokesperson Kishansinh Solanki, and Soma Patel, former Congress MP into the fold with saffron shawls.
The BJP had expelled Solanki, a member of the media cell in 2022 for six years. At the time, the party’s state leadership had cited his “anti-party activities” after he shared a picture with Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann on social media.
Patel–once expelled from the Congress and has also contested elections independently, most recently resigned from the top leadership of the Congress citing personal reasons–was vitriolic in his comments against the grand old party today.
“The Congress is finished. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had invited the Congress to the Ram temple consecration programme in Ayodhya, but they did not go there, so what is the use of staying at such a party…. Congress is anti-Ram,” he said.
