Ex-Congress MLA Gulabsinh Rajput's nephew, missing for 11 years, traced to Mumbai

A man named Vanrajsinh Rajput, who went missing from a village near Banaskantha’s Vav in Gujarat in 2014, has been found in Mumbai.
Mumbai Police handed him over to a family acquaintance, 11 years after he went missing. Vanrajsinh is the nephew of former Congress MLA from Tharad, Gulabsinh Rajput. The family had been searching for him for the past 11 years without any success.
As per information provided, Mumbai Police received a message on social media on December 12 about a person seen near Charni Road. Acting promptly, police from the S K Patil Marg police area took the individual into custody. With the assistance of the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), the man identified himself as Mani, also known as Vanrajsinh Dudaji Rajput.
Police stated that Vanrajsinh was found carrying his Aadhaar card, which helped officers contact his family. When police called his father, he confirmed that Vanrajsinh was indeed his son and informed them that he has been facing mental health challenges.
Vanrajsinh’s father told authorities that his son had gone missing on June 22, 2014, and a missing person complaint was registered at the Vav Police Station.
Despite extensive efforts over the years, the family was unable to trace him. Due to old age, Vanrajsinh’s father expressed his inability to immediately travel to Mumbai and requested the police to keep his son in their custody until arrangements could be made.
Mumbai Police subsequently contacted Assistant Sub-Inspector Uday Singh of Vav Police Station and obtained all relevant records and documents related to the missing person case.
On Sunday, considering the request of Vanrajsinh’s father and his uncle, former MLA Gulabsinh Rajput, the police handed over Vanrajsinh’s custody to a Mumbai-based family acquaintance, 26-year-old Ishwar Singh Rajput.
