Ex-BJP MLA accuses current BJP MLA Raman Vora of tax evasion in land deal worth crores

Former BJP MLA Poonam Makwana has lodged a complaint with the Gandhinagar Collector against Idar’s BJP MLA Raman Vora. She has alleged that Vora purchased land worth crores near Gandhinagar in Palaj under his sons’ names. Although the land documents mention cheque numbers and bank details, the corresponding financial transactions were never cleared.
Citing records, Makwana said that in 2004, MLA Raman Vora had purchased agricultural land in Palaj under survey number 281 in partnership.
She further mentioned in her written complaint that till 2016, the land documents included their names as well in survey numbers 7-13 and 8-A. However, through a transfer deed, only land remained in Raman Vora’s name.
On this basis, he executed inheritance documents and transferred the land to his wife and two sons. Later, the same land was sold for ₹3.07 crore to one Dinesh Patel. Later, Patel converted the agricultural land to NA (non-agricultural) and sold it to MLA Vora’s sons, Suhag and Bhushan, for ₹13.50 crore.
Makwana has demanded an investigation, pointing out that in the sale documents of Vora’s sons, cheque numbers and bank details are mentioned against the transaction, but as per information received, the payments were never cleared. This indicates that the matter was not disclosed in their I-T returns either.
