Eleven held in high-stakes gambling bust at bungalow in Bodakdev

In a crackdown on illegal gambling, the Bodakdev police arrested 11 individuals from a private bungalow in the upscale Ashwavilla locality on Sindhu Bhavan Road. They seized valuables worth over ₹1.19 crore, including cash, luxury vehicles, mobile phones and poker-related equipment.
Acting on a specific tip-off, on Thursday late at night, a team of Bodakdev police officers raided Bungalow No. 27/A, Khushi Bungalow, around 1.39 am. During the raid, police found the accused engaged in gambling activities with high stakes in cash and coloured betting chips.
According to officials, the raid led to the seizure of ₹1.03 lakh cash, 12 mobile phones valued at ₹4.29 lakh, six high-end four-wheelers worth approximately ₹1.13 crore, and a poker table valued at ₹20,000. Police also recovered other items used in the gambling setup, including 578 coloured chips and 11 chairs, as well as documents and notepads suspected to be related to the operation. The total value of ₹1.19 crore worth of items was seized from the spot.
The arrested individuals have been identified as—
- Snehal alias Rihu Kumarpal Shah of Khushi Bungalow, Ashwavilla
- Naveen Sarasbhai Rathi of Vastrapur
- Bhimraj Shivdan Bhatt, originally from Nepal
- Amit Pradeepbhai Sur of Chandkheda
- Diren Prakashbhai Mistry of Ghatlodia
- Ashok Ramarvarup Pancharia of Thaltej
- Ravi Dineshbhai Ailani of Shela
- Chinmaybhai Kishorebhai Rawal of Applewood Township, Shela
- Sariyakbhai Pankajbhai Shah of Science City
- Mohitbhai Dineshbhai Desai of Ellisbridge
- Abhishek Rajedrabhai Gandhi of Vasna
Legal proceedings have been initiated under Sections 4 and 5 of the Gambling Act. Among the accused, some have a known history of similar offences. Notably, Snehal Shah has previous cases under the Gambling Act registered with the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) in 2014 and 2019, while another accused, Ravi Ailani, has a gambling case registered with the Bopal Police in 2015.
