Electrotherm case takes new turn: FIR Lodged against complainant Shirvani

A complaint has been filed against Parmanand Shirvani, who was the complainant in a ₹400 cr loan scam and kidnapping case against the MD of in the Electrotherm Ltd and 18 others, where 18 people, including, 2 IPS officers, and 3 DySPs (deputy superintendents of police).

This complaint was registered at the CID Crime in Gandhinagar.

As per the complaint, Shirvani has been accused of making bogus allegations against the police for not being cooperative in the investigation. He had also made allegations of kidnapping in an eight-year-old case and obstructed the police investigation by recording a video of the panchnama.

He has been accused of committing the offence of obstructing the police investigation and damaging the reputation of the police.

As per the details in this case, after the Gujarat High Court directed for a complaint to be filed into this case, the investigation was handed over to Gandhinagar CID crime unit.

Shirvani was informed 17 days after the Supreme Court vacated the stay order, following which a complaint was filed on Feb 12, which was registered on Feb 15.

Due to his inaccessibility to the SP (superintendent of police), Shirvani requested that the investigation be transferred to Gandhinagar or Ahmedabad. However, he is  not mandated to meet the local SP.

About the investigation conducted by RS Patel of Rajkot CID, this complaint mentions the allegation levied by Shirvani against the investigating and senior officers as baseless and accuses him of obstructing the police procedures.

Electrotherm’s extortion case

After awaiting a legal probe for more than eight years, Anjar resident Shirvani filed an FIR at a police station in Bhuj, accusing his former employer and colleagues of cheating, kidnapping, illegal confinement, and extortion, among other crimes committed against him and his wife.

18 individuals, including the managing director Shailesh Bhandari (MD) and other managers and employees of Electrotherm Ltd, a firm deemed to have a notorious past, were named in the FIR.

Six police officers were also booked, including two IPS officers, three deputy superintendents of police (DSPs), and a police sub-inspector (PSI).

The FIR was filed over a Supreme Court order released on Jan 16, more than eight years after the incident took place.
