Eight arrested, ₹4.8 lakh seized in gambling raid near Ramapir Temple in Ahmedabad

Gujarat's State Monitoring Cell (SMS) on Tuesday night arrested eight men and seized cash and valuables worth ₹4.81 lakh during a raid on an open gambling den operating near Ramapir Temple in Vankar Vas, Kubernagar.
The operation was conducted by the SMC team led by Police Inspector, under provisions of Section of the Gujarat Prevention of Gambling Act and Section of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Cash, vehicles and mobile phones seized
Police said the raid resulted in the seizure of:
* ₹71,200 in cash
* Six mobile phones worth ₹30,000
* Seven vehicles collectively valued at ₹3.80 lakh
* One box of playing cards
The total value of the seized muddamal stands at ₹4.81lakh.
Eight accused detained, six others wanted
The eight men arrested from the spot have been identified as:
1. Rajubhai Bhimsingbhai Gayakwad, of Kaika Nivasa, Kubernagar (partner of the main accused)
2. Aashish Gogibhai Indrekar, resident of Kubernagar
3. Sunny Parashram Gayakwad, resident of Kubernagar
4. Lalaji Rataji Thakor, Saijpur
5. Sanjaybhai Mohanbhai Marwadi, Nobalnagar area
6. Prakashbhai Bhimabhai Rathod, Kubernagar
7. Sureshbhai Tejabhai Thakor, Kubernagar
8. Kanubhai Tejabhai Thakor, Kubernagar
All eight were handed over to Sardarnagar Police Station for further action.
Six individuals remain wanted, including the owners of three vehicles and two suspects identified as:
* Mukeshbhai Vibhabhai Makwana, Kubernagar (main accused)
* Vijay Bhil, Sardarnagar
Police said efforts are ongoing to trace the absconding suspects, including the main organiser. The gambling operation is believed to have been active in the area for some time.
A senior official said strict action will continue against illegal gambling activities across the city, particularly those operating in open spaces or residential clusters.
