Ahmedabad will celebrate Dussehra with grandeur on Thursday, marking the triumph of good over evil. Traditional Ravan Dahan (Ravan effigy burning ceremony) programmes have been organised at major venues including Khokhra Railway Ground, Amraiwadi’s Nagarvel Hanuman Temple, Sabarmati D-Cabin, and ISKCON Temple in Bhat.
At Khokhra and Nagarvel Hanuman, where the tradition has continued for over six decades, 45-foot-tall Ravan effigies will go up in flames this evening, accompanied by Ramlila performances. Organisers claim Khokhra was the first venue in Gujarat to host Ravan Dahan.
At ISKCON Temple and Sabarmati, festivities will begin from 6 pm with Ram Darbar darshan, Ramlila, and Ravan Dahan. Besides these key spots, several societies and public grounds across the city will also hold smaller Ravan Dahan events.
