Duo loots dairy store in Ranip at knifepoint, flees with ₹1.55 lakh

In a late-night robbery in Ahmedabad’s Ranip area, two unidentified men allegedly held a dairy store owner at knifepoint and fled with cash amounting to approximately ₹1.55 lakh. The incident took place around 12.15 to 12.30 am on Thursday at Mahavir Dairy Parlour and General Stores in Kamdhenu Society, Sector-3.
As per the FIR filed by Jayantibhai Motibhai, the shop owner and resident of the same society, the two accused arrived on a two-wheeler moped and parked outside his shop. One of the men, described as being between 25 and 30 years old, wearing a cream-coloured T-shirt and blue jeans, entered the shop asking for cigarettes, while his accomplice, clad in a light blue T-shirt, a dark nightie, and a cap, stood guard near the counter with a knife in hand.
“The man who came inside suddenly held a knife to my neck and opened the drawer of my shop. He took around ₹5,000 in cash,” said Jayantibhai in his complaint. The accused then located an iron money box hidden inside the shop which contained savings accumulated over the last year and a half — around ₹1.5 lakh.
Terrified, Jayantibhai could do little as both men escaped the scene on their moped, heading towards the Balolnagar Bridge.
At the time of the incident, Jayantibhai had stayed back to close his shop late after giving his scooter to an acquaintance who had requested it for a short errand. The robbery took place shortly after the acquaintance had left.
Following the incident, Jayantibhai approached Ranip police station and lodged a formal complaint. The FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Sections along with Section of the Gujarat Police Act.
The investigation has been initated by Ranip police and CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being examined, and efforts are underway to identify and trace the suspects based on physical descriptions and potential leads from nearby surveillance cameras.
Police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity in residential areas, especially during late-night hours.
