Questions were raised on the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC)’s pre-monsoon work after a dumper was stuck in Limbayat. The truck was stuck as the road beneath the vehicle gave way.

Residents claimed the work of laying a drainage line in front of Mansi Residency under Limbayat Zone was completed recently. They alleged that the road was constructed in a hurry without proper soil compaction and without following technical standards.

Due to this, cracks appeared on the road, which caused the dumper to get stuck. The stuck vehicle blocked the road, leading to long traffic congestion and affecting hundreds of commuters travelling for work, business, and school.

Local residents also alleged that the trench dug for the drainage work was not properly filled by the contractor and municipal authorities.

After receiving information about the incident, Surat Municipal Corporation officials reached the spot and started efforts to remove the stuck dumper and carry out repair work.

However, residents continue to express anger over the alleged poor quality of work and administrative negligence of SMC over pre-monsoon work.
