Dumas land scam accused extends leave, action delayed

The City Survey Superintendent of Surat, accused in the property card scam in Dumas, is reportedly on leave till January 31, preventing the authorities from probing him. In total, the official has applied for 28 days of leave in two parts.
In the bogus property card issuing scam, Anant Patel, the City Survey Superintendent, was found issuing fraudulent property cards without following the proper documentation process. He allegedly signed the property cards without performing the required biometric verification as mandated by the rules.
Since the scam came to light, the main accused, Patel, has been on leave and has now extended his leave until January 31. Notably, no action has been taken against him by the police. He has already taken 28 days of leave in two intervals.
It has been 19 days since the scam was uncovered, yet no action has been taken by the settlement court or the police. The police have not initiated any process to arrest the accused.
What is a property card scam?
A scam was unveiled involving a scheme named ‘Silent Zone’ after allegedly making bogus property cards of crores worth of farmer’s land of Dumas and Vata in Surat.
CID Crime had registered a crime against officers-employees of the City Survey Superintendent Office.
