Drunk driver of SHE team police van crashes into divider in Ahmedabad

A driver of the SHE team police van allegedly crashed the vehicle into a road driver in Ahmedabad’s Nikol area late last night. The driver was reportedly drunk at the time of the accident. Liquor bottles and a glass filled with alcohol were found inside the police vehicle, creating anger among the locals.

The incident happened near Bhavani Chowk in Nikol. According to eyewitnesses, the van was moving at high speed when the driver suddenly lost the balance and drove straight onto the divider. People nearby heard a loud noise and rushed to the spot to help.

The driver was found unconscious and heavily drunk. A bottle of alcohol and a glass were also seen inside the vehicle. The van belongs to the SHE team, which works for women’s safety.

Upon receiving the information, the Nikol police quickly reached the scene and controlled the situation, detaining the driver. He was taken to the police station for further investigation.

Initial reports say that the driver was not a police officer but an outsourced (contract) employee hired to drive the vehicle.
