Dropout rates of students in Class 9-10 over 23% for Gujarat

Even after 21 Shala Praveshotsav in Gujarat, the drop out ratio of students in class 9-10 is recorded at 23.28% in 2022.
According to the details issued by the education department of the state, Gujarat has seen a drop out rate of 1.17% in classes 1 to 5, 2.98% in classes 6 to 8 and 6.19% in classes 11-12.
In class 9-10, the highest drop out rate has been observed in Botad district at 35.45% and the lowest at 8.53% in Rajkot city.
It has been admitted by the state education department that Gujarat has high drop out rate in classes 9 to 10.
Over this, a circular has been issued to all district education officers (DEOs), to appoint a district level nodal officers to survey the children who dropped out by February 2022, investigating the causes of dropping out in children.
According to the circular, the survey should conclude before November 30.
Despite efforts to ensure that all Class 8 children are enrolled in Class 9 during the Shala Praveshotsav, many children remain untraced.
The work of this survey has to be completed by November 31.
