Dog-bite cases surge at Sola Civil, over 3,500 patients recorded this year

Dog-bite incidents in Ahmedabad continue to rise, with Sola Civil Hospital reporting an average of 12 new patients every day. Hospital data shows that more than 3,500 new dog-bite cases have already been registered this year.
Doctors note that the highest spike typically occurs between November and February. According to hospital sources, this seasonal rise is linked to the birth of puppies during these months, making dogs more alert and aggressive while protecting their little ones. As a result, attacks on people increase.
In the previous year, the hospital documented 4,265 new dog-bite cases and over 15,600 follow-up visits for vaccination doses. In 2024, January saw 508 cases, followed by December with 458, the two peak months.
