Doctors in Gujarat’s govt hospitals on indefinite strike over Kolkata rape-murder

Doctors and resident doctors across Gujarat launched a strike demanding justice for the female doctor who was assaulted and murdered at the R G  Kar Medical College. Consequently, all OPD (Outpatient Department) and non-emergency services will be suspended today at the government hospitals. Emergency services, however, will remain operational. The strike calls for accountability and reform after the tragic incident.

The students of the B J Medical Colleges in Ahmedabad voiced their anguish. In solidarity with the victim and to demand justice, doctors will be absent from work today. OPD services will be suspended, but emergency services will remain operational.

Doctors on strike in Vadodara

Doctors at Vadodara’s SSG Hospital ( Sir Sayajirao General Hospital, including intern doctors, junior doctors, and senior resident doctors, will be absent from all non-emergency services, including OPD and ward services, today. Over 400 doctors have joined the strike.

Resident doctors’ strike in Surat

Due to the strike by resident doctors at Civil Hospital of Surat, OPD services were stalled. Some OPDs were operational, but resident doctors did not report on duty. Approximately 700 to 800 interns, resident doctors, and other medical staff at the civil hospital have stayed away from non-emergency services.
