Honeytrap Vadodara

In an incident involving an extortion network run in Vadodara, a doctor serving as a medical officer for a private company was lured into a honey trap scheme orchestrated by a young woman. The man lost around ₹1 lakh in this racket.

The medical officer, employed by a private company, had accepted a friend request from a person named ‘Juhi’ ten days ago.

Later, the woman messaged him and initiated a conversation, offering massage services for ₹1,000 per hour. She then shared her mobile number.

Modus operandi

The doctor informed the police  that on Apr 11, the woman invited him to her house for a massage.

The medico found the woman to be alone when he arrived that night at around 8 p.m. However, shocking events unfolded after he removed his clothes in her bedroom for a massage as two men showed up in the house.

One of the men claimed to be police personnel and stated that illicit activities were being carried out from the flat for which they had received complaints, demanding the flat be sealed.

The other man recorded a video and demanded ₹10 lakh for refraining from going to the police station. Negotiating with someone named ‘Gohil Saheb’ (Gohil sir), they settled for ₹2 lakh.

Both men took the officer to his place to withdraw ₹1 lakh from the ATM and then left him outside the woman’s house, threatening him with filing a rape charge if he didn’t comply with paying the remaining amount.

Juhi demanded the remaining ₹1 lakh from the medico the next day, asking him to hand it over near the Abhilasha crossroads in the city. Following which, he immediately informed the police.

Juhi, her husband, Yogesh Labana, and two other accomplices have been apprehended by the police.

Police probe reveals wider network

According to Gotri police inspector RN Patel, the gang’s activities are currently being probed, and forensic assistance is also being sought to examine the mobile phones of the woman and her husband.

Apart from the doctor, the police have traced another individual who also fell victim to this honey trap. Contact has also been established with him.

The gang was continuously threatening him to extort money; however, he had not yet succumbed to their pressure, according to the police.
