Distraught sole survivor of Ahmedabad plane crash gets emotional during brother’s funeral

In the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad, Vishwas Kumar Ramesh, sitting on ‘11A’, survived by a miracle. The sole survivor of the crash that claimed 270 lives , was discharged from the Civil Hospital in Asarwa on Wednesday.
A resident of Diu, Vishwas went to his hometown for the funeral rites of his brother, Ajay, who was also travelling with Vishwas on the fateful flight AI171 from Ahmedabad to London.
As the mortal remains of Ajay reached his house, the family plunged into deep sorrow. Vishwas, was overcome with emotions as he carried his brother’s body on his shoulders.
“I should have also died, why did God save me…,” he cried.
Deceased Ajay’s wife, who fell ill after hearing the news about her husband’s demise, was hospitalised.
Before leaving for Diu, Vishwas described to the Crime Branch what he remembered from the incident, right from when he boarded the plane to the crash.
Vishwas told the authorities that green and white lights had turned on moments after the takeoff of the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner that crashed on June 12 and that the takeoff felt strained. He also described how the aircraft crashed into the hostel building at high speed and burned down in seconds before his eyes.
