Discrimination allegations surface against 4 Ahmedabad schools over RTE admissions

Ahmedabad has come under the spotlight after allegations surfaced that four schools in the city discriminated against students admitted under the Right to Education (RTE) Act. The issue was raised in the Gujarat Assembly on Tuesday by Congress MLA Imran Khedawala, prompting a response from State Education Minister Kuber Dindor.
According to Khedawala, several complaints were received regarding schools in Ahmedabad city and district allegedly segregating RTE students from others, denying them access to sports equipment and treating them differently within school premises.
Minister Dindor confirmed that four schools in Ahmedabad had indeed faced such complaints and that notices were issued against them. However, Khedawala criticised the government for taking no punitive measures beyond issuing notices.
He argued that this lack of strict action encourages schools to continue such practices and forces many children to drop out of school despite being admitted under the RTE Act.
