Dholka burglary solved: Police arrest accused, recover ₹25 lakh in cash, jewellery

The Ahmedabad Rural Local Crime Branch (LCB) has cracked a high-value burglary in Dholka town within days of the crime, arresting one accused and recovering stolen cash and ornaments worth nearly ₹25 lakh.
According to police, the burglary occurred on September 9 at the residence of complainant Firozbhai Hasanbhai Sadhanpuri, who runs a two-wheeler garage, New Golden Auto, on the ground floor of his three-storey house near Limda in Lodhi, opposite Arahant Hospital.
How the burglary was carried out
The accused managed to obtain a missing key to the garage shutter and gained entry. He then accessed a cupboard in the garage where the key to an iron safe was kept. Using it, he opened two compartments of the locker inside the safe and stole:
₹19 lakh in cash kept in bundles of ₹2,000 and ₹500 notes.
Gold ornaments weighing 18.5 tolas, worth about ₹5.93 lakh.
Silver ornaments weighing 200 grams, worth about ₹4,000.
In total, valuables worth ₹24.97 lakh were stolen.
The complainant stated that he discovered the theft the following morning when his craftsman unlocked the garage and found the safe open. The missing currency is worth ₹19 lakh, apart from jewellery items accumulated over the years, some of which belonged to his wife at the time of their marriage.
Investigation and breakthrough
A special investigation team was formed under Police Inspector R N Karamatiya of the LCB. The team examined CCTV footage, questioned locals in the vicinity, and worked on intelligence leads.
Based on reliable information from a human source, officials traced down the accused. After sustained questioning, the accused confessed to the crime, and the stolen valuables were recovered.
The arrested man has been identified as Umar Farooq, son of Mahmudbhai Mansuri, a resident of Dholka Damarwada, near the Kshatriya Thakor Samaj. Police said the recovered items have been handed over to the Dholka Town Police Station for further proceedings.
Police said that further investigations are underway to determine whether others were involved in the burglary or helped facilitate it.
