Delivery man accused of attempted molestation by woman colleague in Ahmedabad

A 23-year-old woman working as a receptionist at a pet grooming shop in Ahmedabad has filed a police complaint against a delivery man, accusing him of attempting to sexually assault her after allegedly taking her to a secluded area on the outskirts of the city under false pretences.
The incident reportedly occurred on the night of July 26, when the complainant, Reena (name changed), a resident of Naroda, was being dropped home from work by the accused, identified as Anil Thakor. Thakor has been employed as a delivery personnel at a pet spa on Visat-Gandhinagar Highway, where both the complainant and accused work.
As per the FIR registered at the local police station, Reena had suffered a hand injury earlier that morning when a Rapido bike she was travelling on skidded and hit a wall on Bhat-Koteshwar Road. After being treated at a local clinic and undergoing an X-ray at a nearby diagnostic centre, she returned to work around noon and informed her seniors about her condition.
As her hand remained in pain, she was allowed to return home early in a four-wheeler, transporting pet food and medicines to Naroda. Thakor was assigned the duty of dropping her off on the way.
However, instead of taking her directly home, the complaint alleges that Thakor diverted the vehicle and drove towards a secluded area near the Kul Jogni Mata temple close to the Bhat toll plaza. There, he allegedly stopped the car and insisted she accompany him into the bushes nearby, claiming it would only take 'five minutes'.
When she refused and tried to exit the vehicle, Thakor allegedly grabbed her injured hand and forcibly pulled her back inside the car. The complainant stated that she warned him she would call the police and then phoned her supervisor. At this point, Thakor reportedly let go of her hand and was instructed to drop her off at home immediately.
Though he eventually returned to the main road, the woman claimed that Thakor continued to plead with her not to report the incident, citing it as a matter of 'honour'. Feeling unsafe, she refused to let him accompany her further and took a rickshaw back to her residence in Naroda.
While no immediate complaint was filed that night due to trauma and fear, Reena approached the police the next day and lodged a formal complaint with the Chandkheda police station. The FIR includes charges of wrongful restraint, criminal force with intent to outrage modesty, and attempted sexual assault.
Further investigations are ongoing.
