Delhi runway closure: 4 Ahmedabad-Delhi flights likely to be cancelled till Sept 15

Planning to travel from Ahmedabad to Delhi via flight between June 15 and September 15? Well, there might be bad news for you! The three-month runway work in Delhi may lead to the cancellation of four Ahmedabad–Delhi flights for four months.
As Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport runway will be closed for maintenance work, around 114 flights daily and rescheduling of another 86 will be affected during three months. Passengers have been requested to check the schedule and notifications of the airline before starting their journey.
Earlier this year in April, maintenance work had already begun on the runway, but due to the chaos caused by cancellations and rescheduling, the work was halted midway.
Now, from June 15, maintenance work on Runway No. 28/10 will resume. This is the main runway of Delhi Airport. On average, the airport handles about 1,450 flights daily. This situation is expected to particularly inconvenience passengers on connecting flights.
Speaking on the sidelines of the curtain-raiser event for the aviation conference ‘Wings India 2026,’ to be held in January in Hyderabad, Union Minister Naidu said that the ministry is discussing with stakeholders, including airlines, on how to ensure minimal impact on the scheduled flights due to the closure of the runway.
The Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) has four runways – RW 09/27, RW 11R/29L, RW 11L/29R and RW 28/10 – and two operational terminals – T1 and T3.
The T2 terminal is currently closed for maintenance works.
