The circular published by the office of the chief inspector of registration and superintendent of stamps, amending the rules of document registration where the document creator (deed writer) had to disclose their details, has been cancelled.

The amendment earlier made it mandatory for the deed writers to provide their name, address, occupation, and contact numbers. However, after some resistance, the authorities had to take it back.

Earlier, the changes were to come into effect from Apr 1.

The representatives opposed the state government’s circular that mandated the disclosure of the details, and the government had to finally give up on the new rules.

The amendment also included punitive measures for the deed writers and the parties signing the document if it turned out to be bogus, however, that has also been rectified.

So far, the document registration required the photographs and fingerprints of the parties involved, and the one presenting the document. This was subjected to amendment in the new rules, which have now been retracted.
