After absconding for over a month, AAP MLA Chaitar Vasava surrendered at Dediapada police station.
Meanwhile, his supporters gathered in large numbers and started protesting, raising slogans. A clash also broke out between the protestors and the police.
A case was registered against him for beating up a forest department personnel in the Narmada district. He had been on a run since then.
AAP MLA from Dediapada, Chaitar Vasava, and his wife Shakuntala were held in a firing case. Following her arrest, Shakuntala had filed a bail plea in Gujarat High Court, which was opposed by the Gujarat government.
The government argued that Shakuntala has substantial involvement in this case, and that she should not be granted bail.
The court has adjourned the next hearing to Dec 4.

“BJP scared of us”: AAP leader Atishi
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had accused the BJP on Nov 4 of filing a false case against Gujarat’s Chaitar Vasava, and said that the saffron party is scared of it.
“The BJP in Gujarat, which has been in power for years, is trying to suppress the strong voice of the tribal community, who is also the son of Gujarat. The false case against Vasava, a popular tribal leader, is an attempt to stop him from becoming the voice of the community,” Delhi minister Atishi said while addressing a press conference at the party headquarters in Delhi.

Ahead of Lok Sabha elections, a political drag has been reported from a remote forest town in Narmada district, Dediapada, where Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA (member of legislative assembly) Chaitar Vasava was booked after he allegedly threatened and fired a round at forest department officials.
The dispute started between forest officials and legislator over the use of forest land for farming by private parties.
MLA confronted officials
The incident occurred on the night of Oct 30 around 8 p.m., when the MLA allegedly invited forest officials to his residence, confronted them, and started beating them after abusing them verbally.
He allegedly threatened the officials to pay for the crops that they had destroyed, and he would kill them if the farmers weren’t compensated. He even allegedly fired a round in the air.
Prashant Sumbe, superintendent of police in Narmada, had prohibited agricultural activities on the lands owned by the forest department.
Despite the orders, the land was still used by some farmers for agricultural activities. Following the orders of the head, forest officials proceeded to remove the crops on Oct 29.
As MLA Vasava is absconding, the police arrested and have started interrogating his wife, Shakuntala Vasava; his personal assistant, Jitendra; and a farmer named Ramesh Gimba.
Politics in the air
Bharuch MLA Mansukh Vasava said, “The forest department shouldn't deprive farmers of farming. However, the MLA should have chosen an appropriate platform to discuss the matter.”
As a police complaint was filed against Vasava, the tribal community residing in the area declared a curfew today.
The locals believed that it was a false claim and a complaint against their MLA.
Chaitar Vasava assumed the office in Dec 2022, preceded by the face of the tribals, Mahesh Chhotubhai Vasava.
