Decision to relieve 6,300 TRB personnel adjourned: DGP

A controversial notification by Gujarat police to relieve 6,300 Traffic Regulatory Brigade (TRB) personnel drew protests across the state and has been adjourned by state police today.
In another notification released today by Vikas Sahay, director general of police, Gujarat, the earlier decision to lay off personnel was adjourned.
According to the notification dated Nov 18, the state government ordered the dismissal of around 6,300 TRB personnel out of a total of 9,000. The personnel with 10 years of service were ordered to be relieved on Nov 30, while those with 5 years were to be relieved on Dec 31. Personnel with three years of service were ordered to be relieved on Mar 31, 2024. The decision was aimed to make a way for new recruits.
Ahmedabad TRB personnel on strike
This decision came after TRB personnel declared protests in cities including Ahmedabad and Surat. Ahmedabad TRB personnel protested outside the office of the Ahmedabad collector today, opposing the layoff. In Surat, too, many TRB personnel staged protests.
