Daughter attacks parents after they oppose marriage to delivery boy with evil intentions

A 33-year-old woman, determined to marry a delivery boy, brutally attacked her parents when they opposed her decision. 

The woman, who is a lecturer at a private college, attacked her father who is a professor at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and mother, also a teacher.

Last year the woman met a man from Naroda through a matrimonial site who claimed to be from Punjab and very wealthy. However, when her parents investigated, it turned out he was just a delivery boy with no connection to Punjab. Her parents believed that he was eyeing their property, so had stopped her from marrying him.

On Saturday night, the daughter assaulted her parents, leaving them bloodied. When other family members tried to intervene, she attacked them too. Later, the neighbours intervened and dialled Abhayam helpline number.

During counselling, the woman remained adamant about marrying her lover. To help her see the reality, the counsellors devised a strategy: they asked her to call the man and tell him she was willing to abandon everything and elope with him. 

The moment she did, he immediately backed out, giving excuses and refusing to marry her. Confronted with the truth, the woman realised her mistake. She later apologised to her parents and family, bringing the matter to a peaceful resolution.
