A family from Dariapur in Ahmedabad returned home after two days of Vastu rituals at their newly purchased property in Jagatpur, only to discover that their house had been broken into and valuables worth ₹23.10 lakh had been stolen. Police have registered a case of housebreaking and theft against an unidentified accused.

As per the FIR lodged at Dariapur Police Station, complainant Nirav Prajapati, who runs a trading business, stated that he, his wife Jalpa and their 17-year-old daughter had locked their home on November 22 before leaving for Vastu work at their new property in Jagatpur.

 Window found open, cupboards ransacked

The family returned on November 24, around 3.30 pm, when their daughter opened the main door. They immediately noticed that the slider window next to the entrance was open. Upon checking the rooms, they found that the wall cupboard was open.

Inside the drawer, they had kept cash and jewellery. Nirav told police that the lock had been broken and the valuables were missing. ₹12 lakh cash, 200g gold bars and multiple ornaments were stolen

The complaint states that an unknown thief entered the house between 10.30 am on November 22 and 3.30 pm on November 24, broke the lock of the cupboard, and took away valuables worth ₹23.10 lakh.

Police noted in the FIR that the accused likely gained entry by opening the slider window next to the main door. The window showed signs of being tampered with. Nirav said he had locked the house securely before leaving for two days and suspects the burglar monitored their absence.

Police have begun examining CCTV footage from the neighbourhood and have initiated a search for possible suspects. Investigators will also explore whether the theft was carried out by someone aware of the family’s temporary absence.
