Along with Vibhuti Patel, her brother Om Patel, and her business partner Raj Padshala surrendered at Morbi police station on Nov 27. 

The accused surrendered after their pleas seeking pre-arrest bail and the arrest of Mayur Karotara alias DD Rabari, another accused in the case, were reportedly rejected by a local court.

In an unending atrocity against Dalits in India, a shocking incident in Morbi is raising  concerns regarding the safety of Dalits in Gujarat.

Working in the export department in Raniba Industries, a tile manufacturing company, Nilesh Dalsaniya filed an FIR (first investigation report) at the Morbi police station that he was brutally beaten by an owner of the company, Vibhuti Patel on Nov 22.

The 21- year-old Dalit alleged that he was also not given his salary by Vibhuti. Popularly known as Raniba, she has a huge following on social media with almost 21.5K followers on her Instagram account. 

Dalsaniya, a resident of Morbi, was allegedly beaten with belts and shoes by the five accused, Om Patel, Raj Patel, Parikshit, DD Rabari, and one more unknown person including Vibhuti.

As per the FIR, he started working in the export department of Raniba Industries on Oct 2, 2023 and was allegedly fired within a fortnight on Oct 18.

Usually, the employees would get their salary on the fifth of every month; however, Dalsaniya did not receive his 15-day salary on time.

Employer denied to pay salary

On calling Vibhuti, she informed him that she will hand over the salary once she is back in town. As per the FIR, after a few days, Dalsaniya called heragain, when Om Patel picked up the call and said that he will not get the salary, and cannot call his sister at any odd hours.

Later, Dalsaniya, his brother Mehul, and their neighbour Bhavesh Makwana went to her office.

An individual identified as DD Rabari slapped Makwana and asked him to go away. Meanwhile, Raj  allegedly started pulling his hair and beating him. Thereafter, other accused, Om, Parikshit, along with Vibhuti physically abused him. 

Dalsaniya was beaten with a belt. As per the FIR, Raniba also put her footwear in his mouth and hurled casteist slurs at him.

The accused have been booked under IPC Sections 323, 504, 506 (2), 143, 147, and 149.

They are also booked under Section 3 of the Prevention of Atrocities Act, 1989, which includes punishments for offences of atrocities against a member of a scheduled caste or a scheduled tribe.
