Dahod woman stripped, dragged on road over extra-marital affair by mob, 12 arrested

Dahod police have arrested 12 people after a married woman was stripped and paraded over an alleged extra-marital affair in the Dhalsimal village of Sanjeli Taluka in Dahod. 

After videos of the incident, which took place on January 28, went viral, the police acted swiftly and approached the woman to file a complaint.

According to sources, the woman was assaulted by her in-laws when she was at the residence of Govind Rathod, with whom she had an alleged extra-marital affair.

Her in-laws barged into Rathod’s house and allegedly beat her. She was stripped and then paraded through the streets by a mob of around 15 people. 

As the videos went viral, the police contacted the woman and counselled her, after which a complaint was filed. The police have arrested 12 people in the matter, including women, while three suspects are at large.

Dahod had earlier witnessed a similar incident in June 2023, when a tribal woman was publicly abused, stripped, and beaten by a group, including her estranged husband in Margala village.
