The Customs Department of Ahmedabad destroyed a substantial cache of narcotics on Saturday. The seized contraband included 250 kilograms of charas, 30 kilograms of ganja, and 60 kilograms of tramadol tablets.

The narcotics, intercepted at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport and the Foreign Post Office in Ahmedabad, were incinerated under the supervision of senior customs officials. This operation was conducted in the presence of a designated panel to ensure transparency and compliance with legal protocols.

According to officials, the destruction was part of an intensified campaign by the Customs Department to curb the smuggling of illicit substances into the city. The department has ramped up its vigilance and enforcement measures to intercept and neutralise drug trafficking networks.

Speaking on the operation, a senior customs official stated, “The disposal of these narcotics is a critical step in our ongoing efforts to combat the menace of drug smuggling. We are committed to eradicating the trade of illegal substances that threaten the safety and wellbeing of our citizens.”

The incinerated drugs, valued at several crores of rupees, represent a significant victory for law enforcement agencies in the battle against the narcotics trade in Gujarat.
