In yet another case of deception involving digital payments, an unidentified man posing as a customer fled with a smart trolley bag and a smart diary worth ₹63,000 from a bag store at Ahmedabad Airport’s Terminal 2 arrival gate, after allegedly showing a fake payment confirmation message.

According to the complaint filed with the Airport police station, the incident occurred on July 5, when the accused approached the store pretending to be a genuine customer. He selected a high-end smart trolley bag and a smart diary, and asked the store staff for a QR code to make the payment.

The store employee, Ujwalbhai Gohel, a resident of Odhav and an employee at the bag store located near Terminal 2 arrival gate, shared the QR code, following which the accused showed a screenshot claiming payment had been made.

However, when Ujwalbhai cross-checked with the accounts department, it was confirmed that no amount had been credited. Upon being questioned, the accused again flashed a message showing another payment confirmation and insisted he had to rush for his Dubai-bound flight.

He left the store claiming urgency, but even after a considerable wait, the payment had still not been received. When Ujwalbhai attempted to contact him, calls to the provided number went unanswered. Despite searching for the man within the terminal, the accused could not be located.

With no payment received and the suspect unreachable, Ujwalbhai eventually lodged a formal complaint against the unknown person at the Airport police station.

Police have registered a case of cheating and are reviewing CCTV footage from the terminal to identify the accused. Investigations are currently underway.
