Crowded trip home for many despite extra GSRTC buses
The Ahmedabad wing started extra buses on 19 routes
As the festivities call for homecoming, a large number of working professionals are on a journey back home.
Ahmedabad, serving as a nexus of employment opportunities for people throughout the state, sees its transportation hubs become extremely busy as hundreds of thousands of travellers make their way towards their homes through state transport.
While private transport services skyrocketed their rates amid Diwali, common people opted for Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) buses to reach their destinations.
To meet the transportation needs, GSRTC ran 2,200 extra buses from Surat to Saurashtra, North Gujarat, Maharashtra, and other districts between Nov 7 and Nov 11.
The extra buses from Ahmedabad went to Amreli, Bhavnagar, Junagadh, Gir-Somnath, Bhuj, Morbi, Nakhatrana, and other cities across Saurashtra.
A total of 258 trips were carried out from Ahmedabad by ST buses in the last two days, which approximately served 15,284 passengers.
As per reports, the Ahmedabad wing started extra buses on 19 routes, through which they earned an income of ₹32.72 lakh.
Despite the extra buses, the state transport corporation saw extremely crowded bus stations and overcrowded buses, still leaving much to desire when it came to meeting the festive rush of passengers.
