The Ahmedabad Crime Branch team was allegedly attacked by drug traffickers while attempting to apprehend a gang involved in MD drug trafficking near the Ramji Temple in Bhat, Ahmedabad.

According to reports, the team, led by PSI R C Sharma, had received intelligence that a group would gather near the temple ground to exchange MD drugs. Based on this tip-off, police set up surveillance in the evening.

During the operation, officers noticed suspicious activity involving individuals in a car and on a Bullet motorcycle. When the police approached for questioning, the suspects attempted to flee. In the process, they allegedly tried to run over the officers with their car, injuring a police constable named Rameshbhai.

The car later crashed into a wall, after which the driver attempted to escape. However, when PSI Sharma tried to apprehend him, the accused reportedly attacked with a knife, inflicting injuries to Sharma’s chest and leg. Another constable who intervened was also injured.

Despite the violent resistance, police managed to arrest three accused Nirav Chaudhary, Nikul Thakor, and Kalu Dafer. A fourth accused, Kalpesh Parmar from Chhatral , managed to escape and is currently absconding.

The police seized approximately 200 grams of MD drugs from the accused. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act and charges of attempted murder, and further legal action is underway.
