Lallu Bihari, accused of multiple crimes in Chandola Lake area, under six-day remand

The Ahmedabad Crime Branch has detained Lallu Pathan alias Lallu Bihari, a long-time offender, from Rajasthan following a three-day manhunt launched after the Chandola Lake demolition drive. Lallu Bihari is accused of multiple criminal activities, including human trafficking, illegal settlements, and electricity theft in Chandola Lake area.
On Saturday, Bihari's remand for six-days were approved against the 14-day demand for remand by the Crime Branch.
For over 30 years, Lallu Bihari operated as an agent, allegedly bringing Bangladeshi nationals illegally into Ahmedabad, forging bogus documents for them, and providing them shelter in encroached settlements near Chandola Lake.
During the ongoing demolition operation at Chandola Lake, the Crime Branch discovered a farmhouse illegally constructed by Lallu on encroached government land. Investigations further revealed that illegal electricity connections were being supplied to both the huts occupied by migrants and Lallu's farmhouse -- reportedly facilitated by Lallu and his son.
Based on this, the Isanpur police and Crime Branch registered two FIRs for electricity theft and launched an intensive investigation. Bihari was traced and apprehended in Rajasthan after evading authorities for three days.
