The Ahmedabad City Crime Branch has achieved a major breakthrough in a high-value burglary case reported from Manekbagh Society in the Satellite Police Station area, arresting two habitual offenders and recovering stolen property worth over ₹1.47 crore, officials said on Friday.

The burglary had taken place at a residential house in Manekbagh Society between January 11 and 16, during which unidentified burglars decamped with a large quantity of cash along with gold, silver and diamond jewellery. Following the complaint, the Crime Branch launched a focused investigation, deploying technical surveillance, CCTV footage analysis, intelligence inputs and human sources.

Based on the findings, the Crime Branch identified and arrested two accused Kamlesh alias Gugo Kantibhai Somabhai Asundra (Parmar), 29, a resident of Khodiyarnagar, Chandkheda, originally from Palanpur taluka in Banaskantha district, and Mehul Parmar, 26, currently residing in Shahpur and Vasna areas of Ahmedabad, with his native place in Disha taluka of Banaskantha.

Police said all the stolen items were successfully traced and legally seized during the operation. The recovered property includes cash amounting to ₹45 lakh, gold jewellery weighing 2,278.99 grams valued at approximately ₹1.01 crore, and silver jewellery weighing 557.4 grams valued at around ₹50,000. Diamond ornaments were also recovered, officials added.

Investigators revealed that Kamlesh alias Gugo is a repeat offender with an extensive criminal history involving house-breaking and theft cases registered across multiple police stations in Ahmedabad city and elsewhere since 2018, including Satellite, Sabarmati, Paldi, Navrangpura and Chandkheda.

Further legal action is being initiated against the accused under relevant provisions of BNS, and the Crime Branch is probing whether the duo was involved in similar burglaries in other parts of the city.
