Cricket match turns into fisticuffs in Ahmedabad, several injured

A minor altercation between children playing cricket escalated into a scuffle at a residential society in the Anandnagar area of Ahmedabad on Sunday, leaving three to four persons with minor injuries, police said.
The incident took place at Scarlet Society, where a routine game among children reportedly turned tense following a verbal dispute. According to preliminary information, the argument soon spiralled into a physical confrontation, drawing in others present at the spot.
Residents alleged that a young woman was also assaulted during the altercation, though the exact sequence of events leading to her involvement is yet to be ascertained.
The incident triggered panic within the society, with locals expressing concern over the sudden escalation of violence in what is otherwise considered a quiet residential neighbourhood.
Police personnel rushed to the spot upon receiving information and brought the situation under control. “We have taken note of the incident and are verifying the claims made by those involved. Statements are being recorded,” a police official said.
Authorities added that the nature of injuries appears to be minor, but further investigation is under way to determine the cause of the dispute and identify those responsible.
No formal complaint had been registered at the time of filing this report, officials said, adding that appropriate action would be taken based on the findings of the inquiry.
