COVID-19 cases in Gujarat cross 500-mark with 615 cases

In just a day, the state saw 107 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday. As the cases rise in Gujarat, a total of 615 cases have been recorded.
While 600 patients are self-isolated, and 15 are hospitalised.
A total of three deaths have been witnessed in the state till now.
Ahmedabad is witnessing the highest number of COVID-19 patients at 281.
Until Wednesday, a total of 71 new cases were registered out of which 30 patients were discharged.
A total of 95 COVID-19 cases have been reported from the city’s North-West Zone’s Thaltej, Bodakdev, and 86 cases from West Zone’s Paldi and Navrangpura.
53 cases were reported from South-West Zone’s Jodhpur and Sarkhej.
According to the government, genome sequencing of COVID-positive patients is being conducted at Gujarat Biotechnology Research Centre, Gandhinagar. The sequencing has mainly identified JN.1, LF.7, LF.7.9, and XFG variants. As per WHO guidelines, these variants are considered of a common type, so there is no need to panic. However, since COVID-19 cases are continuously rising, people have been advised to remain cautious. Moreover, a rising trend in COVID-19 cases is typically observed every 6 to 8 months, so there is no need for fear, as per the government.
