Couple makes suicide pact in Surat, pregnant girl jumps, boyfriend backs out

A complaint was filed against a man in Surat after making a suicide pact with his girlfriend and then backing out at the last moment. 

As per the complaint, the accused Soham Gohil works as an accountant in a saree shop in Surat. A year ago, he came in contact with a 17-year-old girl living in the same area where he was working.

As their relationship grew, Gohil promised to marry the minor. Soon after, Gohil  got engaged to another girl. Hearing the news, the 17-year-old girl was devastated.

On Friday, Gohil went to the girl’s house in Amroli where he convinced her that they should together die by suicide and made a pact. Following this, they went to the third floor of the girl’s house. The girl jumped, but Gohil allegedly backed out.

The girl sustained injuries on her neck, head, and back. She was rushed to the hospital where she was found to be pregnant.

She mentioned in her statement that the boy had trapped her in love and had promised to jump with her, but he didn’t.

The Surat police have begun investigation in the matter and on the lookout for the man.
