Cop on duty assaulted in Ahmedabad, accused creates ruckus at police station

A head constable deployed on bandobast duty in Ahmedabad’s Anandnagar was allegedly assaulted by a man identified as Kamalsinh Parmar, who later went on to vandalise property inside Anandnagar Police Station and threatened officers with false complaints.
According to police, the incident took place on April 11 when Head Constable Jayvirsinh and driver Vikramsinh were stationed near Gopal Awas AUDA gate as part of security arrangements in the area. Police presence had been intensified after the accused’s brother Vijay Parmar had allegedly damaged a Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar flag, prompting preventive deployment to maintain peace.
Around 11 am, Kamalsinh Parmar reportedly picked up a quarrel with a local shopkeeper. When police intervened to defuse the situation, he turned aggressive and attacked Head Constable Jayvirsinh. During the scuffle, the accused allegedly kicked the officer in the abdomen, bit his right thumb, and while being taken in the police vehicle, twisted the officer’s left thumb causing further injury.
Police said that on the way to the police station, the accused continued issuing threats, warning officers that he would have their badges and caps stripped off.
At the station, Kamalsinh allegedly became more violent. Inside the surveillance squad room, he reportedly rammed his own head into a CCTV monitor in an apparent attempt to implicate police in a false case. The impact damaged the display screen.
The injured head constable later received treatment at Sola Civil Hospital and filed a formal complaint against Kamalsinh for assaulting a public servant on duty, obstructing government work, and damaging government property. Police have detained the accused and further investigation is under way.
