Congress worker’s family attacked with knife in Vatva, three arrested

A serious incident of assault has come to light from Ahmedabad’s Vatva area, where Congress worker Vishal Saroj and his family were allegedly attacked by a group of anti-social elements after objecting to rash driving and public consumption of drugs and cannabis in their locality. Police have registered an FIR and arrested three accused in connection with the attack.
According to the complaint, the incident took place around 4.30 pm on June 2 near Bachubhai Kuva in Vatva. Dhanraj alias Takhu was allegedly driving his auto-rickshaw recklessly through the society lane, prompting local residents to ask him to slow down to avoid any accident.
Holding a grudge over the objection, the accused reportedly returned a short while later and began abusing residents while sitting near a Hanuman temple in the locality.
When Vishal Saroj approached him and tried to calm the situation, the accused allegedly became aggressive and started an argument. During the confrontation, Vishal’s younger brother Vinay Saroj intervened in an attempt to prevent the dispute from escalating.
The complaint states that Takhu then called his brothers, Narendrasinh Zala and Dharmendrasinh Zala, along with another unidentified person. The four allegedly launched a violent attack on Vishal and Vinay, assaulting them with fists and kicks before using deadly weapons.
During the attack, Narendra allegedly pulled out a knife and struck Vinay on the head, causing serious injuries. A second blow was reportedly aimed at him, but Vishal intervened, resulting in the knife hitting him on the back with the blunt side.
As residents gathered at the spot after hearing the commotion, the accused fled from the scene. Before escaping, Narendra allegedly threatened the family with dire consequences if they stopped his rickshaw again.
Vinay Saroj sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to Ahmedabad Civil Hospital for treatment. According to the complaint, he received 11 stitches on his head and remains under medical care. Family members said his condition was serious following the attack.
Vatva police have registered a case under Sections 118(1), 115(2), 352, 351(3) and 54 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Three accused have been arrested and further investigation is underway.
The incident has raised concerns over law and order in the Vatva area, with local residents demanding strict action against the accused and immediate justice for the injured family.
