Congress MLA from the Khadia-Jamalpur constituency in Ahmedabad, Imran Khedawala, was admitted to a private hospital after suffering sudden chest pain late Monday night. Doctors conducted immediate medical tests, including an angiography, which revealed a 90 per cent blockage in one of the major arteries of his heart.

Reports suggested that Khedawala was at his residence when he experienced intense pressure and unbearable pain in his chest. He was rushed to the hospital, where a team of doctors carried out emergency investigations. While his condition is currently stable, doctors are closely monitoring his health.

As news of his hospitalisation spread, several Congress leaders and MLAs visited the hospital to check on his condition. With the Assembly session currently underway in Gandhinagar, many legislators travelled to Ahmedabad upon receiving the update. Supporters and party workers also gathered outside the hospital in large numbers.

Khedawala is a prominent leader of the minority community in Ahmedabad East. Crowds began assembling outside the hospital late at night to inquire about his well-being.

It may be recalled that in 2020, during the peak of the Covid-19, Khedawala had tested positive for the virus shortly after attending a meeting with the chief minister. He later recovered and resumed public service activities. Hospital authorities have advised him to take complete rest for the next few days and adhere to a strict diet as part of his recovery process.
